HELLO, I am stephen furst

Let's get to know each other

Photo of myself

Growing up I always had an interest in taking photos.  From my first simple film camera around 10 years old to my first SLR film camera in high school and digital camera when my first child was born.  I always enjoyed capturing moments to freeze them in time.

As technology has advanced in photography, so has my desire to be the best I can be.  Thanks to many friendships over the years with some of the best photographers I know, I have learned so much and continue to learn every day.  I look forward to using all of the techniques I have learned over the years to provide you with the best experience possible and help turn your vision into reality.

"The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do."

More than JUST PORTRAITS

Furst Edition Photography was actually not started with portraits in mind. I started my business in 2012 in the Northeast US while living in rural Connecticut, where I would combine my love of photography with my love for motor sports.  In the beginning I would divide my time outside of work between working on race cars at the local short track and photographing them from outside of the catch fence since this was the only way to make it happen without proper credentials. After a couple seasons of turning wenches between photo opportunities I eventually became linked up with another aspiring motorsports photographer who had a small website focusing on local short-track racing. This introduction would develop into not only a great opportunity, but also a lasting friendship.  This venture into covering local racing would quickly blossom into a continuing journey photographing major racing series such as World of Outlaws, ARCA, and all three national NASCAR touring series.

Moving from New England to Nashville, Tennessee brought forth the next phase in my sports photography career.  The Music City would make me realize just how exhilarating shooting football and basketball can be.  This move would also help me enter into the world of shooting for a wire service and learning how to quickly edit and transmit photos during live events.

This period blessed me with many great opportunities such as photographing Division I SEC football, an NCAA college basketball conference tournament, and an NCAA football bowl game where I was fortunate enough to capture many images of current NFL superstar Lamar Jackson.  My time living in Nashville also made me have an even bigger appreciation for music and have a desire to photograph musicians in their element. Currently living between Paris, TN and the Mayfield, KY area, I still practice my craft photographing for Murray State University basketball and football teams alongside a group of distinguished photographers.  I also recently signed on as a contributing photographer at Cal Sport Media.

I share this with you not only to humbly brag about my accomplishments, but to assure you that I am well versed in using my cameras, and can assure you the highest level of quality.
